FAQ's
Will I lose control? No. Hypnosis is not mind control. You will not do or say anything against your own free will or core values. During a session, you are completely in control and have choice and free will.
Is this like stage hypnosis? Stage hypnosis is entertainment. Therapeutic hypnosis is a professional, goal oriented process focused on personal growth and well-being.
What if I can't "go into hypnosis"? Everyone can experience hypnosis to some degree. Some people enter a deep state, while others stay more alert. Even a light hypnotic state can produce meaningful and lasting results.
What if I am taking medications? Always disclose relevant medical or health information to the hypnosis facilitator. * Never change or alter your medications for a session without consulting your healthcare provider * Most medications are safe to take before a session, including prescriptions and over-the-counter medications. * If you are taking heavy sedatives, a hypnosis session is not recommended as it may reduce your ability to engage and focus. * If you have any concerns, its best to CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN before your first session.
What if I fall asleep? Hypnosis is not sleep. You remain aware and able to respond. If you have a tendency to fall asleep instantly upon relaxation, you should choose to sit up rather than lie down during the session. Falling asleep typically indicates that you are tired/exhausted in life. It is suggested showing up to a session well rested to get full benefits. If you DO fall asleep and it is a light sleep state, your mind can still absorb suggestions and benefit from the session. If you enter a deep/heavy sleep, you might not be as receptive. Showing up alert and refreshed is the best option.
Can Hypnosis work for children? Yes. Hypnosis is effective for children, but in my practice I work with children aged 14 and older. Younger children often require different techniques and I recommend consulting a practitioner who specializes in younger children.
Is hypnosis like meditation? While hypnosis is similar to a deep state of meditation, it is actually different. Meditation is observation and awareness of thoughts, while hypnosis is a connection to the subconscious. Hypnosis focuses on a goal and uses suggestion to reprogram the subconscious.
What if I am not visual? That's completely okay. Hypnosis isn't about forcing yourself to visualize, it's about using the abilities that come most naturally to you. Some people connect more through feelings, inner dialogue, sounds or simple awareness. Allow your natural strengths to guide the session. Please inform your hypnotist if you are not a visual person, this ensures the session is optimally structured for you.
How many sessions will I need? Some clients have instant changes with one session, while others may require more sessions (depending on root factors connected to you goal).
Can anyone be hypnotized? Everyone is hypnotizable but not everyone is WILLING to be hypnotized. You can not be hypnotized against your choice or free will. The effectiveness depends more on your motivation and willingness than anything else.
Is hypnosis safe? Yes. Therapeutic hypnosis is considered safe when practiced by a trained professional. It is a natural state of focused attention that you enter into every single day (i.e.. being absorbed in a book or movie).
Who should NOT do hypnosis? While hypnosis is safe for most people, it may not be appropriate for certain conditions. If you have any of the following, I MAY NOT BE THE RIGHT PRACTITIONER for you: *Schizophrenia *Severe autism *Bipolar disorder *Severe dissociation *Active suicidal thoughts or ideation *Use of heavy sedatives *Severe PTSD *Complex trauma *Borderline personality disorder *Severe panic disorders *Active psychosis
Will I remember what happens? Yes. Most clients remember the session clearly. Hypnosis is a state of focused awareness - NOT unconsciousness - so you retain memory of the session.
Will I need a "top-up" session? Some clients see meaningful change in one session, while others may require additional sessions to reinforce progress. That is based on the individual and is not always required.
What if I'm scared of being hypnotized? If you have actual fears and are 'scared' to be hypnotized, then don't book a session. If you are nervous or skeptical, that's completely different - and normal. Many fears come from misconceptions about hypnosis - largely from watching stage/comedy hypnosis.
Do sessions have to be in person? No. Sessions are just as effective online as they are in person, possibly more effective as you can relax in the comfort and safety of your own environment. PLEASE NOTE: online sessions require a quiet, safe space with little distractions.
What if I want a loved one to have a session? Hypnosis works best when someone genuinely wants the change for themselves. If a person feels pressured or isn't ready, the session is UNLIKELY to be effective. The desire for change needs to come from within.
Will I see results right away? Many clients will notice shifts immediately, while others experience gradual changes over time. For some, the transformation integrates gently in the days, weeks (and even months) that follow.
Will mediumship connections happen during hypnosis? No. They are separate services and are conducted independently of one another. A hypnosis session is focused specifically on your goals and therapeutic outcomes. If you are interested in mediumship, that can be arranged as a separate session.
What if I can't relax? You don't need to 'try' to relax, that is what the hypnosis process is for. Most people find that relaxation happens on its own as the session progresses. People who find it hard to relax often benefit the most, as the process helps them 'switch off'.
Can I do too much hypnosis? While regular hypnosis can be very beneficial, also making it easier to enter the relaxed state, it is important to allow time for processing. Overdoing hypnosis without breaks may reduce its effectiveness or leave you feeling mentally fatigued. If you have questions about time in between sessions, please check with your hypnosis practitioner.
Is hypnosis for everyone? Hypnosis isn't for everyone - and that's perfectly okay. Some people are naturally curious and open to the experience, while others may not believe in it or simply be uninterested. Hypnosis works best when you approach it with an open mind. If it does not feel like it is the right fit for you, please don't force it.
